I am a native Peruvian and an experienced guide. I have been working in the tour industry in Peru, leading trips into different regions as a personal guide and with groups. My education includes Tour Business in Peru and Hotel & Restaurant Management at Berkshire Community College in Massachusetts. Since 2002, I have been running Expanding World. A principal component of our trips has been community service with cultural tours. I have seen firsthand how helping the people in the villages helps the travelers themselves grow. It is a mutually enriching experience. Also, I have taken tour groups to Cusco, Machu Picchu, Puno, Arequipa, Lake Titicaca, Nazca Lines, Paracas, and Lima. I have worked extensively with people and organizations in the tourism business with whom I have long-standing, positive relationships. This makes my trips smooth, safe, and affordable.
Currently, I divide my time between Peru and Western Massachusetts. Peru is a country filled with enchantment, and I have seen both the travelers' and the native people's lives be enriched time and again.

"In September 2017 I went to Peru with a group of ten to see Peru and to paint. Santiago Martin was our guide for this three-week trip. Santiago took care of all the details that would be expected of a travel guide. He picked us up at the airport, arranged all our transportation within Peru, arranged for all our lodging, helped us exchange our money, and organized our sightseeing adventures. What made this a trip of a life time were the things that Santiago did that allowed us to really get to know Peru and the Peruvian people in a way that I think few tourist get to see. I left with the feeling that I really got to experience the Peruvian culture particularly during our stay in Shipasbama (and this is truly amazing since I do not speak Spanish) and the special Peruvian meal that his family prepared for us in their home. Santiago took us to a restaurant that tourist would not normally go to and walked us through a market where we sampled many fruits and vegetables that are found in Peru but not in Vermont. We also had time to do our own thing. I know that many times when we were asleep after a long day of traveling or sightseeing, Santiago was making arrangements for the next day. He did his best to meet the needs of our diverse group which at times was quite a challenge. I would be remiss if I did not mention the leadership, sensitivity, and grace that he demonstrated with our group.. if I have the good fortune to travel to Peru again, I will be giving Santiago a call."
